BACKGROUNDER
Established in 1995, Jax Coffee House & Roastery has been providing Paso Roblans with fresh roasted coffees since its inception. Jack Erhart, proprietor of Jax, first sourced his beans from a local wholesale coffee roaster. But after pursuing an education and additional training in the art of roasting coffee, Jack began to roast his own in 2001.
The name Jax is derived from Jack's own name. But with the change in spelling, the name has brought smiles to people's faces as they remember the childhood favorite game of Jax.
Karen joined Jack in 1996, as marriage partner as well as business partner. Together, they have enjoyed more than a decade of providing a quiet place for people to enjoy an exceptionally good cup of coffee.
Between roasting the coffee and brewing it throughout the day, the coffee house is continually filled with the aroma of fresh roasted, fresh brewed coffee. Recognizing the power and potential of the aroma of coffee, Jack developed a promotional program that connects this most pleasant of aromas with a business' marketing needs. The result: A fully customized gourmet coffee gift box that is branded to the business professional and his or her business.
Finding their time and energy divided between the two areas of their growing business, they decided to specialize in their roasting and aroma promotions business, rather than expanding their retail locations.
The original Jax Coffee House & Roastery is still open in Paso Robles, offering retail sales of their coffee to their local clients. Increasingly, Jack's and Karen's time is committed to developing customized aroma promotional programs for their clients.
